In addition to the ancient Greek and Latin inscriptions housed in the Sackler Museum (MA.Camb.HU.Sack), Harvard University owns modern copies of two well-known Latin inscriptions from Pompeii, both immured in the southern façade of Robinson Hall on the north side of Sever Quad on the Harvard College campus, presumably at the time of its construction in 1904. Designed by Charles McKim in the neo-classical Beaux Arts style popular in American cities at the turn of the century, Robinson Hall features a grand hall with marble flooring and a Doric colonnade and includes in the exterior decoration of its main entrance, in addition to the two replicas of Latin inscriptions, symmetrically balanced marble architectural elements and a full-scale replica of the sarcophagus of Scipio Barbatus, of which the original is preserved in the Vatican museums in Rome.
