Under Development
The U.S. Epigraphy Project is developing a database of Latin inscriptions in American collections marked-up in XML (eXtensible Markup Language) according to a system of electronic editing conventions outlined on the EpiDoc homepage (http://epidoc.sourceforge.net).
Basic EpiDoc XML tagging of epigraphic texts will be done using CHETC (the Chapel Hill Electronic Text Converter) developed by Hugh Cayless and Tom Elliott.
For examples of encoded inscriptions, please see the Sackler Museum inscriptions marked "with transcription".
